One Sharp Ruling Won't Sever New Law-Big Law Ties

The failed joint venture between UnitedLex and now-defunct firm LeClairRyan was back in the news last week. Almost two years after the Richmond, Va.-based firm collapsed, the trustee overseeing the liquidation of the firm continues to do whatever she can to reclaim money for its creditors.

That means going after the New Law provider that sought to provide a lifeline for struggling LeClairRyan back in 2018, through a deal to outsource back office operations. As a quick recap, the Hail Mary pass fell short, LeClairRyan went kaput, and the trustee sued for $128 million.
