Three law firms—Cooley; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; and Kaplan Hecker & Fink—are representing Charlottesville residents in the case accusing a group of alleged white nationalists of conspiring to commit violence. James Fields, the man sentenced to life in prison for the car attack at the rally that killed Heather Heyer, is one of the defendants in the case. Fellow defendant and white nationalist figure Richard Spencer is representing himself at trial.
