A Long Island federal judge on Thursday sentenced a New York attorney to 57 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud against a child.

Vincent J. Trimarco Jr., whose practice was based in Smithtown, worked with the child’s grandparent to defraud her of settlement proceeds from a federal wrongful death lawsuit, according to prosecutors. The girl was nine years old when the fraud began.
