The Shift: Pay Attention to Privacy Beyond the GDPR and CCPA

Over the past several years, there has been a lot of consternation about two main privacy laws: the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). And the consternation was for good reason, given that the GDPR threatens fines of up to 4% of worldwide turnover, and the CCPA brought the idea of broad privacy regulation to the U.S. for the first time.

Often, the discussion about privacy law stops with those two regulations. But it shouldn't, not by a longshot. In fact, data privacy is poised to become an even bigger deal across the board, even to organizations that have determined the GDPR or CCPA doesn't apply to them.
