A Maryland federal court magistrate judge on Monday declined to reopen discovery in a passenger’s injury claim, finding there was no evidence that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority was negligent in its bus design or maintenance.

The plaintiff, Deborah Lampkin, claimed she was injured while boarding a bus operated by the WMATA in January 2018. Surveillance video from an on-board camera showed Lampkin boarding the bus and grabbing onto a handrail as she stumbled—though she did not fall, according to the court’s opinion.
