How Much Will Pharmacies Pay For Opioid Crisis?

A bench trial began Tuesday to determine how much two Ohio counties who won the first jury verdict over the opioid crisis should get in abatement funds.

Here are the details: U.S. District Judge Dan Polster, in Cleveland, is overseeing the trial, which follows a Nov. 23 verdict of liability against three pharmacies: CVS, Walgreens and Walmart. Lead plaintiffs' attorney W. Mark Lanier (The Lanier Law Firm) has said he would ask for $1.1 billion and $1.3 billion for each of the two Ohio counties. Walgreens, which just settled a jury trial against the state of Florida, is represented by Jeff Hall (Bartlit Beck) and Kat Hacker (Bartlit Beck). The trial is expected to last 10 days.
