SCOTUS Denial Won't End Roundup Battles

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday denied review of Bayer's petition over the Roundup litigation, ensuring that more trials are necessary.

Why this is important: A year ago, Bayer announced a "five-point plan" to resolve current and future lawsuits alleging Roundup causes non-Hodgkin lymphoma. One of those "points" was its Supreme Court petition, which sought to reverse an $80 million verdict in 2019, one of three jury awards totaling $2.4 billion in California. At issue is whether federal law preempted the plaintiffs' claims that Monsanto failed to warn of Roundup's health risks.
