The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit affirmed a district court denial of General Electric Co.'s motion to enforce a settlement agreement with a former senior-level manager over claims of race-based discrimination—but on different grounds.

Monica Jackson, a former senior human resources manager-diversity with GE Aviation in Ohio, filed a claim that alleged unlawful discrimination based on her race. In January 2020, an eight-hour mediation took place between Jackson, GE, and counsel for both sides, which was supervised by U.S. District Magistrate Judge Stephanie Bowman of the Southern District of Ohio, according to the circuit court's opinion filed Tuesday.
