An investigation into Samuel Trapp's practice by the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel's disciplinary hearing panel revealed professional misconduct violations, including refusing to refund a client and transferring the deed of a client's home to himself in exchange for legal fees, according to the appeals court's opinion.

The Supreme Court of Missouri issued an en banc opinion indefinitely suspending Trapp in October 2014 after initially filing seven counts against him, with two later being dismissed. Trapp later sough reinstatement, but was denied twice.
