The $2.18 billion patent infringement jury award against Intel Corp. has arrived at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Intel filed its opening brief Wednesday, contending that it doesn't infringe two patents asserted by Fortress Investment Group-backed VLSI Technology LLC. Intel is taking particular aim at VLSI's damages evidence, which included Intel license deals involving different patents and technology, while alleging that jurors used online research to arrive at the award figure.
