James W. Heath has been elected by the Board of Commissioners of the State Bar of Michigan to lead the licensing and regulatory organization of 46,000 Michigan attorneys.

The 88th president of the State Bar of Michigan was sworn in by Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Clement during the Inaugural & Awards Luncheon September 16, 2022 in Detroit. Heath is the fifth African American elected president of the organization. Heath’s one-year term is effective immediately.
