The Maryland Bar Foundation is calling for award nominations for legal professionals who have made a difference in their communities.

Nominations are due by Jan. 30 for the following awards:

  • Edward F. Shea Award – This award honors Baltimore attorney and past president of the Maryland State Bar Association, Edward F. Shea Jr., who exemplified professionalism, civility, integrity, compassion, and commitment to public service. The award goes to someone who embodies the same ideals.
  • H. Vernon Eney Endowment Fund Award – The award is presented by the Maryland Bar Foundation to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in working to improve government and the administration of justice. The award honors Eney, who showed excellence in law, bar leadership, community leadership, and enormous capacity for work.
  • J. Joseph Curran, Jr. Professionalism Award – This award is presented to a government or public interest lawyer known for selflessly serving the public good and furthering the goals of better government and societal standards, in honor of former Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr.
  • Legal excellence awards – This award goes to members who embody the spirit of the foundation's mission: honor, integrity, justice, and knowledge.
