We're airborne, great, now what? If you've ever had that feeling at the start of a legal assignment, you're not alone. It's a question you may face at any random moment, but most likely when you need to update the client. If you've previously used Lean Adviser to create a project plan and get client buy in, then this'll be pretty easy to answer. If you haven't, it won't.

It's hard to imagine anything clients hate more than being blind-sided. So, let's not do it. It may be awkward to tell the client that the project has drifted, or that something has gone wrong and must be corrected. But imagine the alternative. Imagine trying to explain later on that you were asleep at the wheel and didn't spot it.

If it was a plane ride, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. It'd be a given that someone would be monitoring progress. Are we where we should be? How are we doing for resources? Are we still confident that we'll get where we need to be, on time and without drama? If not, what correction is called for? If you want to delight clients, build a reputation and get repeat business, these are the right questions to ask.
