Welcome to Law.com Class Actions: Critical Mass, a weekly briefing for class action and mass tort attorneys.

This week: Lawyers who specialize in mass shootings said lawsuits could be difficult over the incidents in California's Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay. On the stand in a shareholder trial, Tesla CEO Elon Musk targeted the class action bar. As T-Mobile sought to finalize its $350 million data breach settlement, lawyers already filed new suits over another cyberattack.

Lawsuits Over California Mass Shootings

'Would Be Very Difficult'

Mass shootings in California left 18 people dead, but lawyers said civil lawsuits on behalf of the victims and their families could be challenging. Here's my story, which features plaintiffs lawyers who now specialize in mass tort shootings: Anthony Romanucci (Romanucci & Blandin), who sued over last year's shooting in Highland Park, Illinois; Parker Miller (Beasley Allen), who won a $160 million verdict last month over a 2017 shooting in Atlanta; and Kevin Boyle (Panish Shea) who represented victims of the Las Vegas shooting in 2017.
