Q&A: Florida Advocates Eye Another Adult-Use Ballot Measure

Florida remains one of the largest states in the nation without a regulated adult-use cannabis market. Advocates of expanding the Sunshine State's medical marijuana laws to cover recreational sales are trying again to take a legalization initiative to voters in 2024.

Two groups are pushing separate measures. The most prominent one, Smart & Safe Florida, is a proposed constitutional amendment bankrolled almost entirely by Trulieve, which already operates dozens of medical marijuana dispensaries in Florida.
