Senate Holds Hearing, But No Vote, on Cannabis Banking

All eyes were on the U.S. Senate Banking Committee this morning as the panel took up the issue of banking the marijuana industry. There was lots of support expressed for the SAFE Banking Act, but this wasn't a mark-up hearing, so there's still no outlined path for a long-awaited vote for the legislation on the Senate floor.

But the hearing did offer a glimpse of some of the remaining challenges facing a seemingly well-supported bill aimed at opening banks' doors to the cash-intensive state-regulated marijuana industry.
