The U.S. Court of Appeals for Sixth Circuit dismissed claims brought against the Michigan Department of Education and Ann Arbor Public Schools by parents who claimed the transition to remote instruction during the pandemic violated the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

In a May 10 opinion, Sixth Circuit Judge R. Guy Cole Jr. determined the plaintiffs, parents of children who qualified as students with disabilities under IDEA, had failed to plead the necessary requirements for standing in regard to their claims, in addition to some being moot.
