The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit partially reversed the dismissal of claims against various Maine government officials and health care providers brought by a group of health care workers who were fired for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine on religious grounds.

In a May 25 opinion, U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Sandra Lee Lynch of the First Circuit reversed the dismissal the plaintiffs’ free exercise and equal protection claims against Maine government officials, after determining that the group had stated claims under the two clauses of the U.S. Constitution.
