In May, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith lost more than 100 attorneys to a firm launched by two former longtime lawyers with the firm.
The founders of the new firm, Barber Ranen, are Jeff Ranen, the firm's former vice chair of the employment law department, and John Barber, former chair of the firm's employment practices group and member of the management committee. On Sunday, leaked emails surfaced between Ranen and Barber referring to colleagues, clients, other legal professionals and judges using misogynistic, homophobic and anti-Semitic language. By Monday, the founding partners resigned.
