The Missouri Court of Appeals has ruled the state’s reference to the Bible during closing argument didn’t impact the jury’s verdict, which convicted a man of murder in the first degree.
The defendant appealed a trial court’s judgment following the jury verdict, arguing that the state’s reference to the Bible during its closing argument implied that jurors should disregard the court’s jury instruction.
