"Amazon has no reason to believe that you have engaged in any professional misconduct before the USPTO, nor do your clients need to change counsel to proceed with ABR enrollment," said an apology letter to trademark attorney, Nazly Aileen Bayramoglu, from Benjamin U. Okeke, Amazon's senior corporate counsel.

A trademark attorney and her Las Vegas-area law firm have agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit with Amazon.com after the e-commerce company offered an apology and agreed to retract emails that were erroneously sent to clients about the lawyer's purported "abusive/risky conduct in the past."
Nazly Aileen Bayramoglu, who manages Bayramoglu Law Offices' trademark prosecution team and has a spotless disciplinary record, filed a lawsuit May 31 alleging that her clients received rejections from their Amazon Brand Registry applications because "'the trademark [TM] registration was filed by an attorney who has previously been associated with a TM that was sanctioned/made invalid by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for violating USPTO's Terms and Conditions,'" according to the complaint.
