New York Cannabis Regulators Flex Enforcement Muscles

New York police showed up at two Empire Cannabis Clubs locations Tuesday and, depending on which account you read, raided or tried to raid or pushed their way into the self-described marijuana "concierge service" outlets.

Empire's attorney, Steve Zissou, told Syracuse.com that the enforcement teams seized club property and detained two owners of the five-store operation. What, exactly, the officers were seeking is unclear; state tax and cannabis regulators have declined to comment on Tuesday's activities in the club's Chelsea and Lower East Side locations.
