The Council of the American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar voted Friday, during its hybrid meeting in Chicago, to send the newly created Standard 208, Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression, out for notice and comment.

The standard addresses the interrelated topics of academic freedom and freedom of expression since the development of the law and effective legal education require free and robust inquiry, exposition and the exchange of ideas, according to an Aug. 17 memo from the strategic review committee to the council.
