North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum appointed judges to two newly created judgeships in the East Central Judicial District which is comprised of Cass, Steele and Traill counties.

The appointees, Southeast Judicial District Judge Cherie Clark, and East Central Judicial District Judicial Referee Stephanie Hayden, were announced via press release July 21. The two new judgeships were created through the passage of House Bill 1002, which the governor signed into law in April. Seven candidates were named as finalists for the two new positions on the bench, according to a press release.
