Psychedelics Supporters Push for Legalization in California on Multiple Fronts

California could be on the cusp of major changes to laws governing psychedelics. It's just not clear at the moment what those changes will be.

A bill that would legalize possession of small quantities of psilocybin, psilocyn, DMT and mescaline is sitting on the governor's desk. If signed into law, SB 58 by Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, would allow personal use of the substances starting in 2025. The law does not create a framework for commercial sales or licensing.
