Plaintiffs' lawyers who reached global settlements with DuPont de Nemours Inc. and 3M over contaminated drinking water plan to ask for nearly $1 billion in attorney fees.

In a $1.185 billion class action settlement with DuPont, lawyers filed a motion on Sunday for $94.8 million in fees. The motion adds: "Of note, class counsel seek an 8% class fee here and will seek an 8% class fee from the pending 3M settlement amount." With a class action settlement value of at least $10.5 billion, the 3M fee request would be for $840 million, which, when added to the DuPont amount, would equal a total compensation of $934.8 million.
