Welcome back to Higher Law, our weekly briefing on all things cannabis. I'm Cheryl Miller, reporting with a Halloween-induced sugar high for Law.com from Sacramento.

This week we're looking at:

  • A (relatively) quiet reaction to the Boies cannabis suit.
  • A bankruptcy court's unusual cannabis ruling.
  • A chancery court complaint against Parallel.
  • A congressional cannabis champion's retirement.

Thanks as always for reading. Got a story idea or feedback? You can send it all to me at [email protected]. You can also call me at 916.448.2935. Follow me on Twitter: @capitalaccounts

Muted Response Greets Boies-Led Challenge to Federal Cannabis Enforcement

One week after a group of Massachusetts cannabis companies sued to block federal interference with state-licensed marijuana operations, the industry response to the legal campaign has been relatively muted.

The big cannabis trade groups and even some smaller state-based associations haven't issued any public statements reacting to the suit, brought by Boies Schiller Flexner and Lesser, Newman, Aleo & Nasser in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Massachusetts. It's curious given the suit's potentially sweeping impact on cannabis operations in the United States.
