Results from Kaplan’s 2023 law school admissions officers survey find that last year’s U.S. Supreme Court decision banning affirmative action in admissions is causing grave concern about law schools’ ability to create a racially diverse student body.

Kaplan reported that nearly 60% of admissions officers from 85 law schools were “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” that the Supreme Court ruling in Harvard v. Students for Fair Admissions stating that Harvard and the University of North Carolina’s race-conscious admissions policies are illegal, thus condemning affirmative action in higher education, may impact their own school’s ability to create a racially diverse student body.
