Roscoe Jones Jr., a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, will become the 22nd dean of Drake University Law School. He will not only be the first Black law dean, but the first Black dean of any of Drake’s colleges or schools.

Jones, who also co-chairs Gibson Dunn’s public policy group in its Washington, D.C., office, will succeed Jerry Anderson, who has been dean of Drake Law since July 1, 2016. Drake Law was founded in Des Moines in 1865, making it one of the 25 oldest law schools in the country.
