McDermott Will & Emery has hired private equity lawyer Julia Boyd from Reed Smith as a partner in its transactions practice in New York. It's another sign of McDermott's lateral activity and growth to kick start the year, after the firm last week snagged a five-lawyer health care team from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
