California Supreme Court to Hear Case of Cannabis Property Landlord

The California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments March 5 in a case involving a question that has vexed many a jurisdiction: What is a landlord's liability when a tenant runs afoul of cannabis laws?

Emily Wheeler was 85 years old when she and her son were charged with renting to an illegal pot shop operator in Los Angeles. Wheeler owned the property but her lawyers say she didn't know her tenant was running an unlicensed cannabis business.
