Federal Preemption Over Local Pot Laws? New Jersey Lawyers Have Doubts About New Suit

A group of Highland Park, New Jersey, residents has filed suit to block licensed cannabis dispensaries from opening in their borough on the grounds that such operations would amount to federally illegal marijuana trafficking.

My Law.com colleague Charles Toutant wrote this week that seven Highland Park residents and an organization called Cannabis Industry Victims Educating Litigators, or CIVEL, sued the borough in an attempt to block what they say are a planned six dispensaries.
