- On Dec. 15, another pharmacy benefit manager, OptumRx, owned by United HealthCare, filed its disqualification motion, insisting that Motley Rice used its subpoena power in prior government cases to obtain confidential information, which it could use in the opioid cases against the pharmacy benefit managers.
- In a Friday response, Motley Rice member Joe Rice and two other lawyers on the plaintiffs' executive committee in the opioid multidistrict litigation called the latest allegations 'meritless.'
- Motley Rice member Linda Singer, previously at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll, represented the city of Chicago, the state of Hawaii and the District of Columbia.
A second defendant has joined in the effort to disqualify Motley Rice from dozens of opioid cases, citing "newly discovered evidence."
