U.S. District Judge Judge Louis Stanton of the Southern District of New York on Friday awarded a $48.6 million judgment in favor of Frontier Airlines in a suit against AMCK Aviation Holdings Ireland Limited, an aircraft leasing company, and two AMCK affiliates in a breach-of-contract suit relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After dismissing several of Frontier’s claims on summary judgment, Stanton held a bench trial in April to determine whether AMCK breached its contract with Frontier. Stanton noted that he had a specific focus on whether AMCK waived its right to timely payment during an April 2020 phone call between executives at the two companies.
