Accused of violating the “most basic standards of business ethics,” Amazon.com was hit with a product liability suit on July 12 from family members of individuals who allegedly purchased pure sodium nitrite from Amazon and ingested it to commit suicide.
The suit is part of a string of cases challenging Amazon’s sale of sodium nitrite and similarly dangerous products that have led to consumers’ “excruciating deaths” and that the world’s largest online retailer profits from individuals contemplating self-harm.
