Bas Boris Visser, the firm's global head of innovation, had served as Amsterdam managing partner twice over the course of his long career at the U.K. firm. The announcement of his death came just days after Clifford Chance lost another partner, Christopher Morvillo, who was with billionaire client Mike Lynch when his yacht sank off the coast of Sicily in a freak storm.

Longtime Clifford Chance partner Bas Boris Visser, the firm's global head of innovation and business change, has died. He was 56.
A spokesperson for the U.K.-headquartered firm confirmed to Law.com International that Visser, who was also a partner in the Amsterdam global financial markets group, "unexpectedly" passed away on Aug. 15. The firm did not specify a cause of death.
