The University of California Berkeley School of Law announced the launch of its artificial intelligence-focused master of laws degree on Aug. 13, which is now open for applications and will begin in summer 2025.

The school’s first-ever AI-focused degree came together with assistance and consultation from an advisory group consisting of industry leaders. Members of the advisory group include Brian Israel, general counsel at Anthropic; Nikki Vo, director and associate general counsel at Meta; Nicole Ozer, technology and civil liberties director at the American Civil Liberties Union; Beth George, a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer; and Miriam Kim, a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson; among others.
