Apple was hit with a patent infringement suit Thursday for allegedly encroaching on full-color night vision image sensors developed by a Boston-area silicon-based photonics company.

Counsel with Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders filed the three-count lawsuit Sept. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on behalf of SiOnyx, which has developed and manufactured ultra-low-light complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor image sensors and high-performance night vision camera systems. The case is captioned SiOnyx v. Apple.
