An antitrust class action was filed against 40 private colleges and universities, including Yale University, for an alleged price-fixing scheme to raise the cost of college. The proposed class members were each approximately overcharged by $6,200.

The lawsuit was filed Oct. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against major private higher education institutions across the United States, such as Stanford University, Rice University, New York University, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Georgetown University and the University of Miami. Hagens Berman is representing the plaintiffs.
