Monsanto has filed an emergency motion to halt a polychlorinated biphenyls trial in Seattle that starts Tuesday with jury selection.

The trial is the tenth involving former students, teachers and parents at the Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe, Washington, who sued Monsanto over exposure to PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, in the school's fluorescent light ballasts and caulk. More than 200 plaintiffs tied to the school allege they have suffered neurological problems, and Monsanto, now owned by Bayer, has been hit with more than $1.6 billion in verdicts during the past three years.
