Lawyers suing social media companies for addicting America's youth won another key victory on Tuesday after a federal judge allowed claims brought by more than 30 state attorneys general to move forward.

U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, of the Northern District of California, focused most of her 99-page ruling on the alleged misrepresentations made to consumers by Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. With a few exceptions, she refused to dismiss the claims by the states, which include a bipartisan complaint of 33 states led by California and a separate case from Florida.
