In doing so, defense counsel became an agent of Farmers for the purposes of defending Mason in this lawsuit. Thus, defense counsel's receipt of Mabie's settlement offer via certified mail constituted receipt by Farmers," wrote Missouri Appellate Judge Edward R. Ardini.
