A seller of electronic accessories contracted to fill premium retail space at a major pharmacy chain was hit with sanctions after its counsel lodged hundreds of objections during the deposition of its own witness who provided "virtually no knowledge" of the relevant litigation.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Magistrate Judge Keri L. Holleb Hotaling of the Northern District of Illinois granted Walgreen Co.'s motion for sanction against Zeikos for allowing an unprepared witness to testify during a Sept. 30 deposition in a business deal dispute captioned Zeikos v. Walgreen.
