A global management consulting firm filed a lawsuit against its Chicago-based insurer to cover the expenses from an underlying $7.6 million settlement for alleged cybersecurity failures.

Attorneys with Jones Day's Chicago office filed the lawsuit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of Guidehouse, accusing Continental Casualty Co. of wrongly denying its coverage request last month for the expenses stemming from an underlying federal investigation and a sealed qui tam action. The suit seeks to recover the cost of the settlement, as well as the costs it incurred defending against the allegations.
