But last month, a jury awarded a $129 million verdict to the family of a 6-year-old girl who was fatally struck by a car in a school parking lot in Slidell, Louisiana. The family's attorney spoke to Law.com about the win in an area of Louisiana that tends to be less favorable to multifigure verdicts, which are more common in urban venues such as the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
