After Pfizer recalled a prescription drug used to treat sickle-cell disease, a newly filed class action complaint is claiming the company knew the medication causes painful and life-threatening complications for patients. The suit focuses on economic claims, alleging the plaintiffs would have purchased another drug or spent less on the medication, if Pfizer had accurately labeled the drug.
Takeaway: The suit is the latest in a string of suits filed following the recall of Oxbryta, a drug used to treat sickle-cell disease.
