More than 700 current and former residents of Ohio and Pennsylvania sued Norfolk Southern Corp. and dozens of other businesses on Monday for failing to protect them from toxic chemical exposure in the two years since the train derailment.

The suit, filed in Ohio’s Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on the anniversary of the Feb. 3 derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, comes four months after a federal judge finalized a $600 million class action settlement with Norfolk but names additional government defendants including the Village of East Palestine, Ohio, and school districts in East Palestine and Columbiana County.
