A jury of nine men and three women was selected Monday to hear the trial of Willacy County, Texas, Judge Eliseo Barnhart on two counts of aggravated perjury.
Barnhart is accused of lying to a grand jury in May 2006 as the panel investigated allegations of indecency from a former secretary. He also is accused of lying during a deposition in a related civil lawsuit in August 2006. Both counts are third-degree felonies punishable by prison sentences of two to 10 years and a fine not exceeding $10,000.
