Miami Beach attorney Sally Sawh has been charged with first-degree grand theft for allegedly pocketing more than $2 million from her trust account that a French client set aside for condominium purchases. The Florida Supreme Court disbarred Sawh last month and fined her $3,739 on issues raised by the client. Sawh's defense attorney contends that while Sawh's accounting practices with her trust account may have violated Florida Bar rules and she didn't contest disbarment, she isn't guilty of a crime.

Sawh voluntarily surrendered to the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office last week and was released on $10,000 bail, said defense attorney Brian Bieber of Hirschhorn & Bieber in Coral Gables, Fla. He said Sawh is innocent.
