One way for a small firm to grow fast is to seek out a merger. But San Francisco’s Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai, a public law firm with just 23 lawyers in two Northern California offices, is keeping things simpler.

To put itself more on the map and offer a wider range of legal services, the firm is building alliances with two bigger specialty firms.
